Australian Council on Children and the Media

The Australian Council on Children and the Media (ACCM - incorporating Young Media Australia) supports families, industry and decision makers in building and maintaining a media environment that fosters the health, safety and wellbeing of Australian children.

The ACCM collects research and information about the impact of media on children’s development, and provides parents and professionals with advice and information via the Children and Media website (www.youngmedia.org.au) and Helpline (1800 700 357) (national, freecall, 24/7).

The ACCM advocates for children to government and industry about children and media issues. As project funds allow, the ACCM develops parent awareness and education programs about such issues as the impact of media violence, food advertising, sexualised images of children in the media, internet and mobile phone use and safety, and many others.
