Parent Association Bodies - Government Schools

This list provides links to state and territory peak bodies, representing parent associations for government schools.  Many have parent sections on their websites with further resources and links.


These associations are represented on a national level by the Australian Council of State School Organisatons.  The Australian Council of State School Organisations (ACSSO) is the peak national organisation representing the interests of the parents, families and school communities of more than two million children attending government schools throughout Australia.

NSW The Federation of Parents and Citizens' Associations of NSW provides a range of services to its members, which include 2,100 school based parent organisations, as well as a large number of district and regional councils.

NT The Northern Territory Council of Government School Organisations Inc. (COGSO) represents the interests of School Councils and parent bodies in Northern Territory Government Schools.

QLD The Queensland Council of Parents and Citizens' Associations Inc is a community organisation which represents the interests of state school Parents and Citizens Associations throughout Queensland. Approximately 1300 P&C Associations are affiliated.

SA The South Australian Association of State School Organisation's role is to support, advise, train, and advocate for state school Governing Councils - and by extension, the families and members of the local community they represent.

The South Australian Association of School Parents' Clubs is a statewide association of clubs, committees and groups of parents interested in students and their schools and preschools

VIC The Victorian Council of State School Organisations provides advice and support to State School Councils across Victoria. It is an independent organisation of over 500 school councils working towards achieving the best possible education for all in Victorian Government schools.

Parents Victoria is a statewide organisation representing parents of students in Victorian government schools. It presents an organised parent perspective to State and Federal Government and other institutions. Parent services include support and information for parents clubs, and advocacy for individual parents.
